Franklin Springs, GA – The Emmanuel Men's Soccer team hosted the Shorter University Hawks tonight in conference action. The Hawks took a 1-0 lead in the first half and held on the take home the win, 1-0. With the loss, the Lions fall to 5-7-2 overall, 5-4-2 in conference play.
The first half was a defensive battle, with neither team finding the frame until the Hawks scored in the 36
thminute to take a 1-0 lead. The Lions outshot the Hawks 13-9 in the half, with both teams having 5 shots on goal. In the half, Emmanuel goalkeeper,
Bryan Amezcua had 4 saves. At the break, the Hawks led 1-0.
The second half was competitive, with both teams making plays. The Lions had 5 corner kick opportunities, but nothing found the net. The Lions outshot the Hawks, 9-3 with both teams having two shots on goal. Amezcua ended the half with 2 saves, bringing his total on the night to 6. The Hawks held off the Lions to earn the 1-0 win.
