ROME, GA – The Emmanuel Women's Soccer team traveled to Rome, GA tonight to take on the Shorter University Hawks in conference action. The Lions controlled the game on the offensive end, out shooting the Hawks 21-1, with 14 shots on goal but none of the shots broke through and the teams ended the game knotted at 0-0. With the draw, the Lions now sit at 2-6-1 on the season, 2-4-1 in conference play.
In the first half of play, the Lions controlled the pace of the game, with 5 shots on goal and 4 corner kicks. Although the Lions out shot the Hawks 10-0 in the half, none of their shots found the net and the teams went into the half knotted at 0-0.
The second half saw the Lions continue to control the tempo, with 9 shots on goal, but Hawks goalkeeper, Karis Eccleston had a phenomenal game with 14 saves on the afternoon to keep the game scoreless. The teams ended the afternoon in a draw, 0-0.
Jillian Aldrich led the way for the Lions with 3 shots on goal, with
Brianna Nguyen and
Aleigh Rutledge adding 2 a piece.
