Franklin Springs, GA – The Emmanuel Women's Soccer team hosted the Southern Wesleyan Warriors in conference action this afternoon. The Lions took the lead early in the first half and controlled the pace of the game the rest of the way to earn a 4-0 shutout victory. With the win, the Lions improve to 3-6-1 on the season, 3-4-1 in conference play.
Antoinette Burwell got things started for the Lions with a goal at the 7:43 mark, assisted by
Sophie Valeruz to give Emmanuel a 1-0 lead. The Lions added to their lead at 32:18 when
Brianna Nguyen found the net in a penalty kick to make it 2-0, Lions heading into the break. Emmanuel goalkeeper, Ana Ramirez Cortez ended the half with 3 saves.
The second half was a defensive battle to start, but the Lions broke through to score in the 79
th minute on a goal from
Reagan Hill to make it 3-0, Lions. At 82:53,
Emily Chavez added to the Lions lead, with the assist from
Jillian Aldrich to make the final score, 4-0, Emmanuel. In the second half, Cortez grabbed 4 saves to give her a total of 7 saves on the afternoon,
