Game Recap: Men's Volleyball |

Lions Fall to Fort Valley State 3-0

Fort Valley, GA – The Emmanuel Men's Volleyball team traveled to Fort Valley, GA for a rematch against Fort Valley State University. It was a competitive matchup, with each team making key runs but the Wildcats came away with a 3-0 victory, 25-20, 25-18, 25-18. With the loss, the Lions fall to 1-10 on the season.
 
The Lions jumped out to an early 6-3 lead in the first set behind kills by Aidan Feeney and a service ace by Thijs Van der Wal. The Lions would push their lead to 15-10 lead midway through the set on kills by Feeney, Andrew Michael and Oliwer Wrobel. The Wildcats responded well with a 5-0 run to tie things at 15-15. Fort Valley State took their first lead of the set at 17-16 and led the rest of the way to earn a 25-20 set one win. 
 
Fort Valley jumped out to a 7-4 lead in the 2nd set. The Lions tied things at 8-8 on a kill by Andrew Michael. A 3-0 run for the Lions, including kills by Greg Bodus and Feeney put the Lions up 11-9, but the Wildcats quickly retook the lead 15-13 midway through the set. The Wildcats ended the set forcing several errors to take the set, 25-18.
 
The two teams went back and forth to start the third set. A 10-0 run saw the Wildcats take control of the set, 15-5. The Lions responded with service aces by Lucas Nieves and Greg Bodus and kills from Elek Cumming and Andrew Michael to cut the lead to 22-15. However, the Wildcats finished the set strong to take it 25-18 and earn a 3-0 win.
 
Overall, the Lions had 25 kills, 19 assists, 6 aces, 2 blocks and 22 digs.
 
Aidan Feeney led the way with 6 kills on the night, with Greg Bodus adding 5. Oliwer Wrobel led the team in assists with 14, while Thijs Van der Wal, Lucas Nieves, Oliwer Wrobel, and Aidan Feeney each added a service ace. Van der Wal and Bodus each recorded 0.5 blocks, and Feeney led the Lions with 6 digs. 
 
The Lions will be back in action on Tuesday, February 18th with a conference match against North Greenville University at 7PM.
