Franklin Springs, GA – The Emmanuel Women's Lacrosse team hosted North Greenville University tonight for their first conference matchup of the 2025 season. The Lions jumped out to an early lead and withstood a late comeback from the Trailblazers to earn the 17-11 win. With the win, the Lions improve to 2-1 on the season.
Meghan Jennings got things started for the Lions with a goal at the 14:18 mark to put the Lions up 1-0.
Paige Murphy kept the scoring going for the Lions with a goal at 10:22 to make it 2-0 and found the net again at 7:42, assisted by Jennings to put the Lions up 3-0. A goal by
Demi Czynski with 4:41 to play in the first gave the Lions a 4-0 lead. The Trailblazers answered with a goal of their own to make it 4-1, but Murphy found the net with 2:14 to play in the quarter to put the Lions up 5-1.
In the 2nd, the Lions kept their momentum going with 4 consecutive goals. Czynski found the net with 14:46 to go in the 2nd, assisted by Jennings to make it 6-1, Emmanuel.
Kristie Fisher got in on the action with a goal at the 13:55 mark, assisted by Jennings to put the Lions up 7-1 then Czynski scored again with 12:10 to play in the half, assisted by Jennings to make it 8-1. Murphy grabbed another goal at the 11:34 mark, assisted by
Taylor Schubert to push the Lions lead to 9-1. The Trailblazers made it 9-2 with 9:45 to go, but the Lions answered back with a goal from Fisher with 9:09 to play in the 2nd to make it 10-2. NGU made it 10-3 with 7:29 to go in the 2nd, but the Lions responded with a goal by Murphy at the 6:09 mark, assisted by
Mikaela Austin to bring the Lions lead to 11-3. The Trailblazers made it 11-4, but Jennings would make it 12-4 at the buzzer, assisted by Fisher.
The Lions kept the pedal on the gas in the 3rd quarter. Murphy started things off with a goal at 13:35, assisted by Fisher to make it 13-4, Lions.
Taylor Schubert got in on the action at the 12:01 mark to make it 14-4. North Greenville made it 12-5 midway through the quarter, but the Lions responded well. Murphy scored with 5:49 left in the 3rd, assisted by Czynski to put the Lions up 15-5. Fisher scored with 3:38 to play in the quarter, assisted by Jennings to make it 16-5. The Trailblazers scored to end the quarter trailing 16-6.
In the fourth, the Trailblazers scored the first three to make it 16-9. Murphy added her eighth goal of the night with 4:47 to play to put the Lions up 17-9. The Trailblazers scored the final two goals of the game to make the final score 17-11.
Paige Murphy led the way with 8 goals on the night, with
Demi Czynski and
Kristie Fisher adding 3 a piece.
Meghan Jennings led the team with 5 assists and
Emily Dawson grabbed 4 saves on the night, while
Avery Atkins picked up 2.
