Franklin Springs, GA – The Emmanuel Women's Lacrosse team hosted the Mars Hill Lions today in non-conference action. The Lions jumped out to an early lead and controlled the pace of the game behind an 8-goal effort from
Paige Murphy. The Lions earned a 18-5 victory to improve to 3-1 on the early season.
Paige Murphy got the scoring started for the Lions with a goal at the 10:44 mark to give the Lions a 1-0 lead. At 9:03, Murphy found the net again, this time assisted by
Kristie Fisher to make it 2-0 Lions. With 2:23 to play in the first,
Demi Czynski scored to give the Lions a 3-0 advantage.
Avery Jennings got in on the action with 1:41 to go in the first, assisted by
Meghan Jennings to make it 4-0. With 33 seconds to play in the 1
st, Murphy grabbed her third goal, assisted by Paetyn Hoffman to give the Lions a 5-0 lead.
Avery Jennings closed out the first with a goal at the 12 second mark to make it 6-0, Lions.
The Lions started the 2
nd quarter off with another goal from
Avery Jennings, assisted by
Lexie Lee to give Emmanuel a 7-0 lead. The Mars Hill Lions got on the board next with two consecutive goals to cut Emmanuel's lead to 7-2. Czynski grabbed her second goal of the day with 8:13 to play until the half to go up 8-2. With 6:16 to play in the 2
nd,
Avery Jennings scored her fourth goal to make it 9-2 Emmanuel. The Mars Hill Lions scored to cut the lead to 9-3, but
Paige Murphy responded to close out the quarter with a goal at the 9 second mark to make it 10-3, Emmanuel.
In the third quarter, the Emmanuel Lions got back to work with Murphy finding the net to make it 11-3 with 14:02 to play in the 3
rd. Murphy scored again with 13:27 to play in the quarter to make it 12-3.
Kristie Fisher scored with 8:24 to play in the 3
rd, assisted by Hoffman to make it 13-3. With 7:00 to play in the 3
rd, Czynski grabbed a goal to make it 14-3 and found the net a minute later, assisted by
Avery Jennings to help the Lions go up 15-3. With 4:54 to play in the 3
rd, Murphy grabbed her 7
th goal of the day assisted by
Meghan Jennings to give the Lions a 16-3 lead. Murphy tacked on another goal to the Lions lead with 2:34 to play in the 3
rd to make it 17-3.
Kristie Fisher started off the fourth quarter with a goal at the 14:10 mark, assisted by Czynski to make it 18-3, Emmanuel. The Mars Hill Lions scored the final two goals of the game to make the final score, 18-5.
Paige Murphy led Emmanuel with 8 goals.
Avery Jennings and
Demi Czynski each had 4 goals, while
Meghan Jennings led the team with 3 assists.
