Lions Fall to SCAD-Savannah 21-19

Franklin Springs, GA – The Emmanuel Women's Lacrosse team hosted SCAD-Savannah tonight in regional play. The Bees got off to a quick start, taking a 13-7 lead into halftime. The Lions offense picked up in the second half, but the Bees came away with a 21-19 victory. With the loss, the Lions fall to 1-1 on the season.
 
The Bees jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the first period. Emmanuel's Paige Murphy got the Lions on the board with 7:56 to play in the first to make it 3-1, Bees. SCAD scored the next two goals to go up 5-1, but the Lions responded well. Mikaela Austin found the net with 2:12 to go in the first, to make it 5-2, Bees. SCAD scored once more to end the first period up 6-2.
 
In the second, the Lions got the scoring started with a goal by Kristie Fisher to make it 6-3, Bees. SCAD scored at the 12:42 mark to add to their lead, 7-3 but the Lions answered back with a goal from Demi Czynski at the 12:26 mark to make it 7-4. The Bees found the net again to go up 8-4, but Czynski responded with her second score of the night, assisted by Taylor Schubert with 9:39 to play in the 2nd to make it 8-5. Schubert got into the scoring ten seconds later with a goal at 9:23, assisted by Meghan Jennings to make it 8-6. Jennings then scored with 7:48 to play in the 2nd to cut the Bees lead to 8-7. The Bees closed out the second quarter on a 5-0 scoring run to take a 13-7 lead into the break. 
 
The two teams traded goals to start the third quarter. Kristie Fisher found the net first for the Lions with an assist by Austin to cut the Bees lead to 13-8. The Bees responded with a goal to go up, 14-8 but the Lions answered back with a score by Paige Murphy with 10:30 to play in the quarter to make it 14-9. The Bees added a goal to go up 15-9, but the Lions answered back with another goal by Murphy at the 7:28 mark, assisted by Jennings  to make it  15-10. Paetyn Hoffman found the net with 6:44 to play in the third, assisted by Austin to cut the Bees lead to 15-11, but the Bees responded with a 3-0 scoring run to go up 18-11. Jennings ended the quarter with a goal with 33 seconds to play, assisted by Fisher to make it 18-12 heading into the 4th.
 
The fourth quarter started with a goal by the Bees to go up 19-12. The Lions scored the next two, with Hoffman finding the net with 13:22 to play, assisted by Austin to make it 19-13. Kristie Fisher scored with 13:08 to play to cut the Bees lead to 19-14. The Bees scored the next two to go up 21-14 but Paige Murphy grabbed a goal with 9:05 to play, assisted by Schubert to make it 21-15. With 7:09 to play, Murphy scored her 5th of the night to make it 21-16, Bees. With 4:46 to play, Hoffman scored to make it 21-17, assisted by Austin. Thirty seconds later, Meghan Jennings found the net, assisted by Avery Jennings to cut the Bees lead to 21-18 with 4:16 to go. A goal by Murphy with 2:59 to play made it 21-19, which would be the final score.
 
Paige Murphy led the Lions with 6 goals, while Paetyn Hoffman, Kristie Fisher, and Meghan Jennings added three a piece. Mikaela Austin led the team with 4 assists, with Meghan Jennings adding three.
