Spartanburg, SC – The Emmanuel Women's Tennis team traveled to Spartanburg, SC yesterday to take on the Converse University Valkyries in conference action. The Valkyries got off to a strong start, taking the doubles point and held off the Lions by winning three of the six singles matches to earn the 4-3 win. With the loss, the Lions fall to 2-7 on the season.
DOUBLES PLAY
- At #1 Doubles, Sabina Roua / Shatavisa Ghosh (EU) fell to K. Kharb/L. Martins (CONVERSE) 6-0.
- At #2 Doubles, Anna Goncalves/Tawana Senah (EU) fell to S. Giraldo-Jimenez/L. Maynor (CONVERSE) 6-3.
- At #3 Doubles, Franziska Wolter/ Emma Auger (EU) fell to T. Panwar /Romy Rueff (CONVERSE) 6-1.
SINGLES PLAY
- At #1 Singles, Sabina Roua (EU) fell to K. Kharb (CONVERSE) 6-2, 6-0.
- At #2 Singles, Shatavisa Ghosh (EU) def. L. Martins (CONVERSE) in three sets. Ghosh lost the first set, 6-3 before taking the final two sets, 6-2, 6-1.
- At #3 Singles, Tawana Senah (EU) fell to S. Giraldo-Jimenez (CONVERSE) in three sets. Senah lost set one, 7-6 before taking set two, 6-0 and losing the final set, 6-3.
- At #4 Singles, Anna Goncalves (EU) fell to T. Panwar (CONVERSE) 6-4, 6-2.
- At #5 Singles, Franziska Wolter (EU) def. R. Rueff (CONVERSE) 7-5, 6-4.
- At #6 Singles, Victoria Rodriguez (EU) def. A. Pieve (CONVERSE) 6-4, 6-3.
The Lions are back in action on Wednesday at 1PM as they host Lees McRae in conference action.
