Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Lions Fall to North Greenville 54-45

ROME, GA – The #7 seeded Emmanuel Women's Basketball team kicked off play in the 2025 Atlantic Casualty Insurance Conference Carolinas Women's Basketball Championship tonight with a match up against #12 seed, North Greenville hosted at Shorter University. The two teams were evenly matched from the start with neither offense getting going in the first half. The Trailblazers took a two-point lead into half, 21-19 and pushed their lead in the second half to earn a 54-45 victory. With the loss, the Lions end their season with a 12-16 record, 11-9 in conference play. 

North Greenville jumped out to an early 10-2 lead in the first few minutes of play. The Lions responded well with key plays by Maddie Futch and Naomi Roberts to tie things at 10-10. The Lions took the lead on free throws by Ade'Jah James and a jumper by Abby Crawford put the Lions up 14-13 after the first. In the quarter, the Lions shot 4-14 from the field (29%) but connected on 5-5 from the foul line. 

The second quarter saw the Lions take a four-point lead on a three-pointer by Natalee Goff but the Trailblazers responded with a three-ball of their own with a few seconds to go in the half to take a 21-19 lead at the break. In the quarter, the Lions were 2-11 from the field and 1-7 from three-point range.

After the break, the Trailblazers pushed their lead to 24-19 early. The Lions responded with lay-ups by Addie Penick and Roberts to cut the lead to one point. The Lions shot 5-15 from the field in the quarter (33%) and connected on 1-2 from three-point range. The Trailblazers ended the quarter on a run to take a six-point lead into the 4th, 36-30. 
In the fourth, back-to-back jumpers by Crawford cut the Trailblazers lead to 36-34, then a layup by Roberts made it 38-37. The Trailblazers responded with a run to make it 49-41 and they closed out the game strong to earn a 54-45 victory.

Naomi Roberts led the way for the Lions with 15 points, 10 rebounds and 5 steals. Addie Penick led the Lions with 7 assists.
