Lions Fall to #16 Flagler 17-11

Franklin Springs, GA – The Emmanuel Women's Lacrosse team welcomed the #16 Flagler University Saints to Stephens Field this evening for Senior Night. The two teams kept it close throughout the first half of play, tied at 6-6 at the break. The Saints pulled away late to earn a 17-11 win. With the loss, the Lions fall to 4-5 on the season. 

The Saints grabbed the first goal of the game to go up 1-0 early. The Lions responded with a goal by Paige Murphy with 8 minutes to play in the 1st to tie things at 1-1. Flagler scored to go up 2-1, but Murphy would score the final two goals of the quarter to take a 3-2 lead heading into the 2nd

The Saints would answer with two goals to start the 2nd quarter to go up 4-3. Taylor Schubert found the net for her first goal of the night with 9:58 to go in the half, assisted by Kristie Fisher to tie the game at 4. Flagler answered with a goal to go up 5-4, but Murphy grabbed her fourth of the night, assisted by Fisher to make it 5-5. The Saints went ahead 6-5 with under 6 minutes to play until half, but Meghan Jennings responded with a goal with 40 seconds to play, assisted by Schubert to make it 6-6 at the break.

The Saints opened up the 3rd quarter on a 4-0 run to go up 10-6. Demi Czynski answered with a goal to make it 10-7 with 1:29 to play in the quarter. The Saints scored with a second on the clock to make it 11-7 to end the 3rd.

Czynski made it 11-8 to open up the 4th quarter, but the Saints responded to go up 12-8. Murphy scored her fifth goal with 11:48 left in the game to make it 12-9, but the Saints responded with a 3-0 run to go up 15-9. Fisher scored with 4:19 left to play, assisted by Czynski to cut the Saints lead to 15-10, with Murphy finding the net a minute later for her sixth goal of the night, assisted by Fisher to make it 15-11. The Saints scored the final two goals of the game to make the final score 17-11.

Paige Murphy led the Lions with 6 goals on the night, with Demi Czynski grabbing 2. Kristie Fisher led the team in assists with 4, with 2 caused turnovers. Emily Dawson had 8 saves on the night. 

The Lions will be back in action on Wednesday, March 26 at 5PM as they travel to Rome, GA to face Shorter University in conference action.
