LIONS DOWN #16 NORTH GEORGIA 11-6!!

Dahlonega, GA – The Emmanuel Baseball team traveled to Dahlonega, GA tonight to face the #16 University of North Georgia Nighthawk in regional action. The Lions jumped out to an early lead scoring the first 2 runs. A 5 run 4th inning put the Lions up for good as they bring home an 11-6 victory. With the win, the Lions improve to 21-22 on the season. 

The Lions got things started in the top of the 2nd inning. Zachary Bergstrom singled to center field to start off the inning. Tyler Bradford and Andrew Ferguson both walked to load the bases and Dobbs Bowden took advantage with a single to shortstop to score Bergstrom, giving the Lions a 1-0 lead. Ryan Muniz hit into a fielder's choice which scored Bradford to make it 2-0, Lions. 

In the top of the 3rd, the Lions added to their lead. Landon Mokris singled to start things off. Hayden Beall followed that up with a single to right field to advance Mokris to 3rd. Bergstrom walked to load the bases and Ferguson walked to score Mokris, making it 3-0 Lions. In the bottom of the 3rd, the Nighthawk got on the board scoring a run on a hit to make it 3-1, Emmanuel. 

In the top of the 4th, Jesus Cruz and Mokris were both hit by a pitch to start off the at-bat. Beall singled to right field to score both runs, giving the Lions a 5-1 lead. Bergstrom singled to center to advance Beall to 2nd and Bradford singled to right field to load the bases. Ferguson walked to score Beall and Bowden singled to left but got thrown out at 2nd, scoring 2 runs to make it 8-1 Emmanuel. In the bottom of the 4th, the Nighthawk scored 3 runs on 2 hits to cut the Lions lead to 8-4. 
A homerun in the bottom of the 5th for the Nighthawk made it 8-5, Emmanuel.

After a few scoreless innings, the Lions got back to work in the top of the 8th. Brock Wollin started the inning off with a single to center. Mokris doubled to left to advance Wollin to 3rd and Beall homered to right field to clear the bases, pushing the Lions lead to 11-5. The Nighthawk answered in the bottom of the 8th to score a run on 3 hits to make the final score 11-6, Lions. 

At the plate, Landon Mokris went 4-4 with 3 runs scored and Hayden Beall went 3-5 with 5 RBI's. 

On the mound, William Fife got the start going 1.0 inning and walking 4 batters. Jamin Smith relieved him to throw 2.2 innings. He gave up 4 runs on 3 hits and walked 4 batters. Noah Olson came in next, earning the win.  He threw 3.1 innings and gave up a run on a hit and struck out a batter. Kody Collins relieved him to throw an inning. He gave up a run on 3 hits and struck out 2 batters. Gavin Richardson closed out the game for the Lions, throwing an inning and sitting the Nighthawk down in order.
