Wollin Hits Three Homers in Lions 13-10 Win over Limestone!

Gaffney, SC – The Emmanuel Baseball team traveled to Gaffney, SC this afternoon to take on Limestone in non-conference play. The Lions took an early lead and held off the Saints after a 7-run 4th inning to earn a 13-10 victory. With the win, the Lions improve to 25-22 on the season. 

The Lions got on the board in the top of the 2nd inning. Hayden Beall got things going with a single to center field and Drew Knight brought him home with a 2-run homer to give the Lions a 2-0 lead. 

The Lions added to their lead in the top of the 3rd on a solo homerun by Brock Wollin to make it 3-0, Lions. The Saints threatened in the bottom half of the inning, collecting 2 hits but didn't get a run across. 

The Lions kept things going in the top of the 4th. Andrew Ferguson walked to start the inning and Dobbs Bowden singled to center field to advance him to 2nd. The runners advanced on a wild pitch and Ferguson scored on a SAC fly to make it 4-0, Lions. Bowden advanced to 3rd on a wild pitch and after a walk to Jesus Cruz, Wollin homered for the second time in the contest to clear the bases, making it 7-0 Lions. In the bottom of the 4th, the Saints rallied to score 7 runs on 4 hits and an error to tie the game at 7-7. 

In the top of the 5th, Zachary Bergstrom started things off with a double to center and he scored on a SAC fly to center to give the Lions a 8-7 lead. The Saints took their first lead of the night in the bottom of the 5th, scoring 2 runs on 2 hits to make it 9-8, Limestone.

The Lions answered back in the top of the 6rh. Bowden doubled to left field to start off the at bat and Cruz singled to first base to score him, tying the game at 9. After Cruz was caught stealing, Wollin hit his THIRD homerun of the night to give the Lions a 10-9 lead. Landon Mokris followed that up with a solo homerun of his own to make it 11-9, Lions. 
After a scoreless 7th, the Lions got back to work in the top of the 8th. Ryan Muniz doubled to start the inning, advancing to 3rd on a wild pitch. Cruz followed that up with a double to right to score Muniz, giving the Lions a 12-9 lead. Wollin was next to lace a double to center, then a double by Mokris scored him to make it 13-9 Lions. The Saints scored a run on a hit in the bottom of the 8th to make it 13-10, Lions which would be the final score. 

At the plate, Brock Wollin had himself a day going 4-5 with 4 runs scored, 5 RBI's, 3 homeruns and a double. 

Brayden Pooler started things off for the Lions on the mound, going 3.1 innings. He gave up 4 runs (3 earned) on 5 hits, striking out a batter. Noah Olson relieved him to face 3 batters, giving up 3 runs on a hit. Jamin Smith earned the win for the Lions, facing 5 batters and giving up a run on a hit. He struck out a batter and walked one. Will Sherman came in next, throwing 2.0 innings. He gave up a run on 3 hits and struck out 2 batters. Gavin Richardson relieved him to pitch an inning, giving up a hit and striking out a batter. Hunter Maddox came in next to face 4 batters, he gave up a run on a hit and walked a batter. Zach Evans closed out the game for the Lions, earning the save. He pitched 1.1 innings and sat down the Saints in order.
