Wilson, NC – The Emmanuel Men's Lacrosse team traveled to Wilson, NC to take on the Barton College Bulldogs in the quarterfinals of the Conference Carolinas Championships. The Lions came into the matchup as the #5 seed, with the Bulldogs earning the #4 spot. Barton took an early lead on the Lions and controlled the pace of the game to earn a 22-8 victory. With the loss, the Lions fall to 8-7 on the season.
The Bulldogs opened up the scoring, going on a 6-0 run to start the 1
st quarter.
Barton continued their run in the 2
nd quarter, quickly making it 7-0. The Lions responded with a goal by
Griffin Gibson-Thomas, assisted by
Luke Hildebrandt to make it 7-1 Bulldogs. Back-to-back goals by
Ryland Laturell with 7:59 to play in the 2
nd, assisted by Hildebrandt made it 7-3, Barton. The Bulldogs responded with a 4-0 run to take an 11-3 lead. Tannar Park closed out the half with a goal, assisted by
Jared Weiss to make it 11-4, Barton at the half.
The Bulldogs grabbed the first goal of the 3
rd quarter to take a 12-4 lead, but the Lions answered with a goal by
Jared Weiss, assisted by Hildebrandt to make it 12-5. The Bulldogs scored the next five to take a 17-5 lead into the 4
th quarter.
Barton scored first in the 4
th to go up 18-5, but Weiss responded with a goal to cut the Bulldogs lead to 18-7. The Bulldogs answered with a 3-0 run to make it 21-7, but
Everett Muratori found the net with 4:36 to play to make it 21-8. The Bulldogs scored the final goal of the game to make the final score 22-8, Barton.
Jared Weiss led the Lions in scoring with 3 goals, while
Ryland Laturell added 2.
Luke Hildebrandt had 4 assists on the night, while
Nick Pilon had 16 saves in goal.
