Duncan, SC – The Emmanuel Softball team continued play in the Conference Carolinas Championship with a semifinal matchup against the Trailblazers of North Greenville University. The Lions took an early lead in the top of the 3
rd inning, but the Trailblazers scored the final 2 runs of the game to edge the Lions, 2-1. With the loss, the Lions fell to 23-28 on the season and would face Francis Marion University in an elimination game.
Grace Ausborn singled to start off the 3
rd inning. After a groundout moved Ausborn to 2
nd base, she stole 3
rd.
Abby Rocco singled to right center to score Ausborn, giving Emmanuel a 1-0 lead. In the bottom half of the inning, the Trailblazers scored on a solo homerun to tie the game at 1-1.
The Trailblazers took their first lead of the game in the bottom of the 4
th, scoring a run on 3 hits to make it 2-1.
The Lions would threaten to score in each of the final three innings, but they couldn't bring a run across, and the Trailblazers would earn a 2-1 victory.
