Mount Olive, NC. – The Emmanuel Women's Lacrosse team traveled to Mount Olive, NC today to take on the University of Mount Olive in conference play. The Trojans jumped out to an early lead, taking a 13-8 lead into the half. The Trojans shut out the Lions in the second half to earn a 20-8 win. With the loss, the Lions fall to 6-7 on the season, 2-4 in conference action.
The Trojans opened up the scoring by netting the first two goals of the game to take a 2-0 lead.
Kristie Fisher scored the Lions first goal, assisted by
Paige Murphy to make it 2-1, Trojans. Mount Olive scored the next four to go up 6-1. The Lions answered to score the next two, with
Paige Murphy scoring to make it 6-2 and
Taylor Schubert finding the net with 2:35 left in the 1
st (assisted by
Mikaela Austin) to make it 6-3. The Trojans scored to go up 7-3, but the Lions answered to score the next two. Murphy found the net to make it 7-4, and
Demi Czynski scored with 20 seconds to play in the quarter to cut the Trojans lead to 7-5.
The Trojans scored the first four to start the 2
nd quarter to go up 11-5. The Lions scored the next three, with Murphy scoring with 9:03 to play in the 2
nd to make it 11-6, Trojans.
Meghan Jennings scored to make it 11-7, assisted by Austin and Murphy scored with less than 2 minutes in the half to make it 11-8. Mount Olive scored the final two goals of the half to make it 13-8 at the break.
The Trojans closed out the game on a 7-0 scoring run to earn a 20-8 win.
Paige Murphy led the way with 4 goals for the Lions, while
Mikaela Austin led the team in assists with 2.
