FRANKLIN SPRINGS, GA – The Emmanuel Men's Soccer team opened up their home season tonight against the Saint Leo University Lions. It was a competitive matchup from the start, with neither team finding the net in the first half of play. Saint Leo took the lead early in the 2
nd to go up 1-0 and held on to earn the victory. With the loss, the Lions fall to 0-3 on the season.
The first half was a defensive battle, with both teams making plays on the defensive end. The Saint Leo Lions led Emmanuel in shots, 10-3 with 4 shots on goal. Emmanuel goalkeeper,
Jackson Gallegos ended the half with 4 saves, and the two teams went into the break knotted at 0-0.
Saint Leo opened the scoring early in the 2
nd half with a goal in the 58
th minute to go up 1-0. The Saint Leo Lions had 13 shots in the half to Emmanuel's 1, with 4 of their shots being on goal.
Gallegos ended the night with 7 saves in goal, but Saint Leo came away with the win 1-0.
Next up, the Lions will open conference play as they host North Greenville on Saturday at 7PM.
