Franklin Springs, Ga – The Emmanuel Men's Soccer team hosted the Young Harris College Mountain Lions tonight in the first installment of The Roar War rivalry. It was a competitive match up from the start, with both teams making key plays on the offensive end. At the break, the Mountain Lions led, 2-1. In the second half, both teams found the net, but the Mountain Lions came away with the win, 3-2. With the loss, the Lions fall to 1-4 on the season, 1-1 in conference play.
The offensive fireworks started early in the match up with the Mountain Lions taking a 1-0 lead in the first minute of play. Young Harris added to their lead to go up 2-0, but the Lions responded well with a goal by
Colin Wedderburn at the 21:28 mark to make it 2-1, Young Harris heading into the break. In the first half, the Lions led the Mountain Lions in shots, 9-5 with both teams taking 2 shots on goal.

nd half, finding the net in the 58
th minute to go up 3-1. The Lions wasted no time in responding, with a goal by
Christian Mata at 59:41 to make it 3-2, Young Harris. The Mountain Lions out shot the Lions, 7-5 in the half with 4 shots on goal. The Lions had chances late to tie the game, but Young Harris would hold on to take the win, 3-2.
With the Mountain Lion win, Emmanuel now leads the Roar War standings, 2-1.
Next up, the Lions will travel to Banner Elk, NC where they'll face Lees McRae Bobcats on Saturday at 4:30PM.
