BANNER ELK, NC – The Emmanuel Men's Soccer team traveled to Banner Elk, NC this afternoon to take on the Bobcats in conference play. The Bobcats got off to a quick start, scoring in the 7
th minute to take a 1-0 lead. Right before the half, Lees McRae struck again to add to their lead to take a 2-0 lead into the break. Neither team found the net in the second half and the Bobcats came away with a 2-0 win. With the loss, the Lions fall to 1-5 on the season, 1-2 in conference play.
The first half started off with fireworks for the home team, as Lees McRae found the net at 7:38 to take a 1-0 lead. The Bobcats added to their lead in the 44
th minute to go up 2-0 heading into the break. Lees McRae outshot the Lions, 11-7 in the first half with 5 shots on goal.
In the second half, both teams made great plays on the defensive end. The Bobcats outshot the Lions 11-5, but Lions goalkeeper,
Jackson Gallegos came away with 9 saves. Neither team found the net in the 2
nd half and the Bobcats came away with a 2-0 win.
Next up, the Lions will host Erskine on Tuesday at 7PM for Firefighters Appreciation Night.
