Franklin Springs, GA – The Emmanuel Women's Basketball team hosted Erskine College tonight in conference action. The Lions controlled the pace of the game from the start, with
Natalee Goff leading the way with a triple double to give Emmanuel the 110-64 victory. With the win, the Lions improve to 11-8 on the season, 6-7 in conference play.
The two teams traded points early in the first quarter, but the Lions pulled ahead 20-12 behind 12 early points from
Natalee Goff. The Flying Fleet scored the final five points of the quarter to make it 21-17, Lions to end the first. In the quarter, the Lions were 35% from the field, connecting on 7-7 from the foul line.
The Lions opened up the second quarter with back-to-back three pointers from
Lizzie Teasley and
Hannah Harris and a tip-in from Goff pushed the Lions lead to 10, 29-19.
Naomi Roberts,
Jaleia Robinson and
Carmen Cabello-Rivera got in on the scoring action to give the Lions their largest lead of the night, 49-28 with 1:25 to play in the second. At the break, the Lions led 51-32. In the quarter, Emmanuel shot 12-19 from the field (63%) connecting on 6-11 from three-point range.
The Lions carried their momentum into the third quarter with
Kate Jackson and Goff getting hot from three-point range to make it 66-38, Lions with 5:52 to go in the third. The Lions led by as much as 36 points in the quarter, taking an 83-48 lead into the fourth. In the quarter, the Lions shot 48% from the field and 43% from beyond the arc.
In the final quarter, the Lions continued to push the pace offensively, outscoring the Flying Fleet 27-16. Several freshmen contributed late, with
Julie Azeltine,
Kaleigh Calloway,
Riley Dean and
Breelyn Wood getting on the board. The Lions closed out the game strong to earn a 110-64 victory.
Four Lions ended the night in double figures scoring with
Natalee Goff leading the way with a triple-double of 28 points, 15 rebounds and 10 assists.
Kate Jackson added a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds and 5 assists, while
Naomi Roberts (12) and
Hannah Harris (10) ended the night in double figures.
