Box Score Tigerville, SC – The Emmanuel Men's Volleyball team traveled to Tigerville, SC to face North Greenville University tonight in conference action. The Trailblazers took an early lead, taking the first set 25-20, but the Lions answered to earn the win in set two, 25-22. The Trailblazers closed out the game strong, earning wins in the final two sets, 25-12, 25-19. With the loss, the Lions fall to 2-5 on the season, 0-1 in conference action.
The Trailblazers took an early 8-5 lead in the first set, but the Lions answered with a kill from
Elek Cumming and errors from the Trailblazers to cut their lead to 11-8. Midway through the set, North Greenville led 16-12, but the Lions responded with a kill from
Thijs Van der Wal to cut the lead to three, 16-13. The set stayed competitive the rest of the way, with Aidan Feeny and Robert Hege collecting kills, but North Greenville closed the set strong to earn the win, 25-20.
In set two, the Lions took an early 3-0 lead on a service ace from
Greg Bodus and errors by the Trailblazers. North Greenville tied things up at 3-3, but a kill from
Matthieu Bataille pushed the Lions ahead, 4-3. Kills from Fenney, Bataille, and Cumming put the Lions up 16-10 midway through the set. North Greenville responded to pull within a point, 18-17 late in the set, but kills from Feeney and Cumming closed the set for the Lions, giving Emmanuel the set two win, 25-22.
The Trailblazers adjusted in the third set, taking an early 10-2 lead. They continued to pull ahead, taking a 15-3 lead midway through the set. North Greenville closed the set strong to earn the 25-12 win in set three.
In set four, the Trailblazers took an early 5-1 lead. The Lions answered with a kill from Feeney to pull within a point, 5-4. North Greenville continued on a 9-2 run to take a 14-6 lead midway through the set. Kills and an ace from Feeney cut the Trailblazers lead to 18-13, but North Greenville closed the set to earn the 25-19 win, taking the game 3-1.
Overall, the Lions had 31 kills, 30 assists, 2 aces, 3 blocks and 25 digs.
Elek Cumming led the Lions with 11 kills, with
Aidan Feeney adding 10.
Greg Bodus led the team in assists with 26, with Bodus and Feeney each collecting an ace.
Elek Cumming picked up 2 blocks on the night, with
Thijs Van der Wal leading the way with 6 digs.
