After a scoreless first quarter, the Lions got on the board first with a 3-yard touchdown pass from
Lillian Stephenson to
Gianna Brown to give the Lions the 6-0 lead. The Nighthawks responded on their next drive with a rushing touchdown to take a 7-6 lead into halftime.
In the third quarter, the Nighthawks opened things up with a 66-yard touchdown pass to take a 13-6 lead. The Lions began to put a drive together, gaining positive yardage on two completions to
Shayne Cooper-Riley, but the Nighthawks picked off Stephenson to score a touchdown, making the score 19-6.
The fourth quarter saw the Nighthawks push their lead to 32-6 which would be the final score.
Lillian Stephenson went 11-27 on the night for 81 yards and a touchdown. She threw 1 touchdown on the night and 4 interceptions.
Gianna Brown had 5 receptions for 47 yards and a touchdown on the night, with
Shayne Cooper-Riley adding 4 receptions for 22 yards.
Defensively, the Lions were led by Kylie Warren-Young who had 3 tackles.
Gianna Brown broke up three passes in the game, with
Jamise Spivey grabbing an interception.
The Lions will be back in action next Saturday, February 28 for their first Conference Carolinas matchup of the season. The Lions will face Lees McRae at 12PM and King University at 4:30PM.
