FRANKLIN SPRINGS, GA – With their last second victory over Southern Wesleyan, the Emmanuel Men's Basketball team locked in the #6 seed in the Conference Carolinas Championship and was named a host site for the first and second round of tournament play. The Lions finished the regular season with a 16-12 record, 13-7 in conference action.
The Lions will host a first-round game against #7 seed, Barton College and #12 seed, Shorter University on Sunday at 5PM at the Shaw Athletic Center. The winner will then face the Lions on Monday at 7PM.
The Lions faced the Barton College Bulldogs once this season on the road, winning in thrilling fashion 75-70 behind a big night from
Devin Story (27 pts, 7 rebounds) and
Ezra McKee (24 pts, 5 rebounds).
The Lions are 2-0 on the season against the Shorter University Hawks. The two teams met at the Shaw Athletic Center on December 16 with the Lions earning the 87-83 win behind
Sam Thacker and
Ezra McKee who each scored 19 points.
On February 4
th, the two teams played at Shorter, with the Lions winning convincingly, 84-71 with four Lions ending the night in double figures scoring.
On the season,
Devin Story leads the team averaging 24.3 points per game which ranks him 2
nd in all of Conference Carolinas. The Lions lead all of Conference Carolinas in three-point percentage, averaging 38% from beyond the arc.
The winner of Monday's game will move onto the quarterfinals where they'll face #3 seed, Ferrum on Friday, March 6 at 1:30PM in the Jerry Richardson Indoor Stadium. The semifinals and final will follow on Saturday, March 7 and Sunday March 8 at Jerry Richardson Indoor Stadium.
