Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Lions Drop to Barton 20-9

Wilson, NC – The Emmanuel Men's Lacrosse team traveled to Wilson, NC today to open up conference play. The teams traded goals and the lead early in the 1st period, but the Bulldogs opened up the game to take a 8-3 lead into halftime. The third period was all Barton as the Bulldogs outscored the Lions 8-0 to push their lead to 16-3. The Lions fought back in the fourth period to make the final score, 20-9 Barton.

Barton opened the scoring to take a 1-0 lead early in the first period, but the Lions responded with a goal by Devin Gardner, assisted by Erik Lichtner to make it 1-1 with 10:28 to play in the 1st. The Lions pulled ahead with a goal by Ryland Laturell, assisted by Everett Muratori to make it 2-1, Lions but the Bulldogs quickly tied things at 2-2. Barton closed out the first period on a 2-0 run to take a 4-2 lead into the 2nd,

The Bulldogs scored the first three goals in the 2nd period to go up 7-2, but Laturell found the net again to cut the lead to 7-3. Barton scored the final goal of the period to take an 8-3 lead into the break.

In the third, the Bulldogs controlled the pace of the game, outscoring the Lions 8-0 to build onto their lead, 16-3. 

The Lions fought back in the fourth period. After the Bulldogs scored the goal of the period to go up 17-3, Tristen Cuda responded with a goal to make it 17-4, Barton. The Bulldogs found the net to go up 18-4, but the Lions responded with a 3-0 run. Muratori struck first, to cut the Bulldogs lead to 18-5, then Grant Anderson found the net (assisted by Laturell) to make it 18-6, Barton. Braden Weeks scored to make the score 18-7, assisted by Lichtner but the Bulldogs answered with two goals to go up 20-7. Josh Williams found the net with 2:15 to play, assisted by Cuda to push the score to 20-8 and Ryley Dowswell scored, assisted by Gardner to close out the game with the Bulldogs up, 20-9.

Ryland Laturell led the Lions with 2 goals, while Erik Lichtner picked up two assists.

Nick Pilon led the Lions with 15 saves in goal.

Next up, the Lions will travel to Tigerville, SC to face North Greenville on March 7 at 2PM.
