Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Lions Down SWU 21-5!

Central, SC – The Emmanuel Women's Lacrosse team traveled to Central, SC this afternoon to face Southern Wesleyan University in conference action. The Lions jumped out ahead early, taking an 11-4 lead into the halftime break. The Lions continued to control the pace of the game in the 2nd half, earning the 21-5 victory. With the win, the Lions move to 6-5 on the season, 3-1 in conference action.

Demi Czynski got the scoring started to give the Lions the early lead, 1-0, assisted by Olivia Wallach. The Warriors responded to tie the game at 1-1, but the Lions closed the 1st period on a 9-0 scoring run. Meghan Jennings and Kristie Fisher each scored unassisted goals to put the Lions up 3-1 with 7:23 to play in the 1st. Peaeytn Hoffman was next to find the net, assisted by Fisher to push the Lions lead to 4-1. Lexie Lee made it 5-1 with 6:29 to play, with a goal assisted by Hoffman. Wallach scored the next two, with one goal assisted by Lee to give the Lions the 7-1 lead with 4:12 to play in the period. Czynski grabbed her second goal of the day, assisted by Taylor Schubert to make it 8-1, Lions. Wallach scored her third goal of the day at the 2:27 mark to give the Lions a 9-1 lead, and Czynski closed out the period with a score, assisted by Lee to put the Lions up 10-1 after the first period.

The Warriors struck first in the 2nd period to make it 10-2, but the Lions quickly responded with a goal from Lee to make it 11-2. The Warriors closed out the period on a 2-0 run to make it 11-4, Lions at the half.

The third period was all Emmanuel, with the Lions going on a 9-0 run through the period. Czynski picked up her fourth goal of the day early in the period, assisted by Schubert to make it 12-4, Lions. Schubert was next to find the net, scoring at the 12:51 mark to push the Lions lead to 13-4. Jennings scored the next three, assisted by Wallach, Mikaela Austin, and Kristie Fisher to give Emmanuel the 16-4 lead. Czynski scored her fifth with 5:11 to play in the 3rd to put the Lions up 17-4. Wallach was next to score her 4th goal of the game, finding the net with 4:35 left in the 3rd period to make it 18-4, Lions.  Schubert made it 19-4 with 2:38 to play in the 3rd and Wallach picked up goal number 5 to push the Lions lead to 20-4 to end the period.

Jennings scored the Lions sole goal in the 4th period, giving the Lions a 21-4 lead with 8:35 to play. The Warriors answered with a late goal to make the final score 21-5, Lions.

Demi Czynski, Meghan Jennings, and Olivia Wallach led the Lions in scoring with five goals apiece. Wallach, Kristie Fisher, Lexie Lee, and Taylor Schubert each picked up two assists on the night. 

Emily Dawson led the Lions with seven saves in goal. 

Next up, the Lions will host the University of Mount Olive on Saturday at noon for Senior Day.
