Franklin Springs, GA – The Emmanuel Women's Lacrosse team welcomed the University of Mount Olive Trojans to Stephens Field today for a conference match up. It was Senior Day for the Lions, as they honored
Emily Dawson,
Kristie Fisher, and
Meghan Jennings. The two teams battled early, with the Trojans leading 5-3 after the first period. Mount Olive pushed their lead to 14-5 at the break. The Trojans went onto win the game, 21-8.
The Trojans opened up the scoring taking a 1-0 lead early in the 1
st period. The Lions quickly answered with a goal from
Kristie Fisher, assisted by Paetyn Hoffman to tie the game at 1-1 with 10:33 to play in the first. The Trojans responded with a 4-0 run to take a 5-1 lead, but the Lions closed the period out on a 2-0 run, with goals by
Demi Czynski and Fisher (assisted by
Olivia Wallach) to cut the deficit to 5-3 at the end of the 1
st.
The Lions kept the momentum, starting the 2
nd period on a 2-0 run, with goals by Fisher (assisted by Lexie Lee) and Schubert (assisted by
Meghan Jennings) to tie the game at 5-5 with 13:33 to play in the 2
nd. Mount Olive responded by scoring the next 9 to take a 14-5 lead heading into halftime.
Mount Olive scored the first two goals in the 3
rd period to push their lead to 16-5, but Czynski found the net for her second time in the afternoon (assisted by
Meghan Jennings) to make the score 16-6, with 6:09 to go in the 3
rd. The Trojans scored the next two to go up 18-6, but Schubert closed out the period with a score (assisted by
Meghan Jennings) to make the score 18-7 after 3.
In the fourth quarter, the Trojans grabbed the first two goals to push their lead to 20-7, but
Olivia Wallach found the net with 3:17 to play to make it 20-8, Mount Olive. The Trojans scored the final goal of the game to make the final score, 21-8.
Kristie Fisher led the Lions with 3 goals, with
Demi Czynski and
Taylor Schubert adding 2 apiece.
Meghan Jennings led the Lions in assists with 3. In goal,
Emily Dawson had 3 saves and
Avery Atkins picked up 4.
Next up, the Lions will host North Greenville on April 8
th at 6PM.
