Game Recap: Flag Football |

LIons Down Chowan 75-6!

Mount Olive, NC – The Emmanuel Women's Flag Football team traveled to Mount Olive, NC tonight to face Chowan University and the University of Mount Olive in conference action.  The Lions jumped out early against the Hawks, taking a 21-0 lead in the first quarter. After outscoring the Hawks 33-0 in the 2nd quarter, the Lions led 54-0 at the halftime break. In the second half, the Lions continued to control the pace of the game outscoring the Hawks 21-6 to earn the 75-6 victory. 

The Lions had 12 first downs in the game, compared to the Hawks 7 and outgained the Hawks, 366-179.

Lillian Stephenson ended the night going 27-34 for 246 yards and 7 touchdowns through the air. She threw 2 interceptions.
Stephenson was the Lions leading rusher, with 5 carries for 39 yards. Gwen Carter picked up 30 yards on 4 carries and a rushing touchdown.

Gianna Brown led the Lions in receiving with 7 receptions for 80 yards and 2 touchdowns, while Desiree Quiles picked up 51 yards on 4 receptions and 2 scores. Elzie Baker, Gwen Carter, Sydne Stoker, and Cailin Robinson each grabbed a scoring touchdown. 

Defensively, the Lions were led by Kylie Warren-Young who had 7 solo flag pulls and 8 total. Jamiese Spivey ended the night with 7 total flag pulls. Three Lions, (Warren-Young, Spivey, and Kinsey Bishop) ended the game with an interception, with Spivey returning it for 22 yards.

The Lions will be back on the gridiron tomorrow at 5PM against Barton College.
