Tigerville, SC – The Emmanuel Softball team traveled to Tigerville, SC to face North Greenville University in conference action. The Trailblazers took game one, 10-1 and carried the momentum into the second game to win it, 9-1.
GAME ONE
After a scoreless first inning, the Trailblazers got on the board, scoring 4 runs on 5 hits in the bottom of the 2
ndto go up 4-0.
The Lions responded well in the top of the 3
rd.
Dezarea Hillery singled to left field to start off the inning. After
Arlie Gooden walked,
Ciara Passmore singled up the middle to score Hillery, cutting the North Greenville lead to 4-1. North Greenville tacked on a run in the bottom of the 3
rd to push their lead to 5-1.
Ashley Fountain and Shelby Rinfierd got on base for the Lions in the top of the 4
th, but a strikeout ended the at-bat with the Lions trailing 5-1. The Trailblazers scored a run on a hit in the bottom half of the inning to go up, 6-1.
In the top of the 5
th,
Grace Ausborn reached on an error and Passmore singled to get runners in scoring position, but a ground-out ended the at bat. The Trailblazers scored 2 runs on 2 hits in the bottom of the 5
th to go up, 8-1.
In the bottom of the 6
th, North Greenville added 2 runs on 3 hits to take the 10-1 lead, which would be the final score.
At the plate,
Ciara Passmore led the way going 2-3 with an RBI.
In the circle,
Autumn Matherly started the game throwing 3.0 innings. She gave up 5 runs on 8 hits and struck out a batter.
Addison Hendrix relieved her to throw 2.0 innings. She gave up 3 runs on 3 hits and walked 3 batters.
Quinn Overby closed the game for the Lions, facing 4 batters and giving up 2 runs on 3 hits. She walked a batter.
GAME TWO
After a scoreless first inning, the Trailblazers got on the board first in the bottom of the 2
nd, scoring 2 runs on a hit to take a 2-0 lead.
The Lions responded well in the top of the 4
th.
Arlie Gooden started off the at-bat with a triple to right center and scored on a sacrifice fly to put the Lions on the board, 2-1 Trailblazers. North Greenville answered in the bottom half of the inning, scoring 5 runs on 4 hits and an error to make it 7-1.
The Trailblazers added 2 runs on 3 hits in the bottom of the 5
th to push their lead to 9-1, which would be the final score.
At the plate,
Grace Ausborn and
Arlie Gooden picked up a hit, with Gooden collecting an RBI.
In the circle,
Reagan Beagle got the start going 3.1 innings. She gave up 7 runs on 6 hits and struck out a batter, walking 5.
Quinn Overby relieved her to throw an inning. She gave up 2 runs on 3 hits. She walked 3 batters.
