MILLEDGEVILLE, GA – The Emmanuel Softball team traveled to Milledgeville, GA this afternoon to face Georgia College in regional action. The Bobcats took an early lead in game one, carrying the momentum through the game to earn the 8-0 win. The Lions took the early lead in game two, but the Bobcats answered quickly and held onto the momentum to earn the 15-4 win.
GAME ONE
The Bobcats scored a run on a hit and an error in the first inning to take a 1-0 lead.
Autumn Matherly settled down in the circle, sitting the Bobcats down in order in the bottom of the 2
nd to keep the score, 1-0 Georgia College.
In the bottom of the 3
rd, the Bobcats scored 6 runs on 5 hits and 2 errors to take a 7-0 lead.
After a scoreless 4
th, the Bobcats added a run to their lead in the bottom of the 5
th to make the final score,8-0.
Autumn Matherly started the day in the circle, going 3.0 innings and giving up 7 runs (5 earned) on 6 hits. She struck out one batter.
Addison Hendrix closed the game, throwing 1.1 inning and giving up a run on a hit, walking a batter.
GAME TWO
After a walk to
Grace Ausborn, Ausborn advanced to 3
rd on a passed ball.
Ciara Passmore walked and stole 2
nd to put runners on 2
nd and 3
rd.
Carson Stowe took full advantage with a single to centerfield to score both runs, giving the Lions a 2-0 lead. The Bobcats answered, scoring 4 runs on 5 hits to take a 4-2 lead.
Georgia College added 6 runs on 6 hits and an error in the bottom of the 2
nd to take a 10-2 lead.
The Lions answered in the top of the 3
rd. After a walk to Ausborn,
Vic Epps singled to shortstop to advance Ausborn to 3
rd. A walk to Stowe loaded the bases and Ausborn scored on a fielder's choice to make it 10-3, Bobcats. In the bottom of the 3
rd, Georgia College tacked on 2 runs on 3 hits and an error to go up 12-3.
The Lions threatened in the top of the 4
th, getting two baserunners on board but a groundout ended the inning. In the bottom of the 4
th, Georgia College added 3 runs to their lead on 2 hits and an error to go up 15-3.
In the top of the 5
th, the Lions kept fighting. Stowe singled to start off the at-bat. After
Emma Knight was hit by a pitch,
Arlie Gooden walked to load the bases. A walk to
Kaylee Purvis scored a run to make the final score 15-4.
Carson Stowe led the Lions at the plate, going 2-2 on the day with 2 RBIs.
In the circle,
Reagan Beagle got the start. She pitched 1.1 inning, giving up 9 runs on 10 hits.
Addison Hendrix relieved her to throw 1.2 inning. She gave up 3 runs on 4 hits.
Quinn Overby closed the game for the Lions, throwing an inning and giving up 3 runs on 2 hits. She struck out 2 batters and walked 2.
