Franklin Springs, GA – The Emmanuel Women's Flag Football team hosted Wingate University this afternoon in conference action.
The Bulldogs took the early 12-0 lead in the first quarter, but the Lions responded well with a touchdown to make the score, 12-6 after the first. In the 2nd quarter, the Lions outscored the Bulldogs, 7-6 to make it 18-15, Wingate heading into the half. In the third quarter, the Bulldogs outscored the Lions, 8-7 and closed the game strong to earn the 33-27 victory.
Lillian Stephenson led the Lions completing 26-50 passes for 257 yards, 3 touchdowns and an interception.
Gwen Carter led the Lions in rushing with 3 carries for 22 yards.
Shayne Cooper-Riley led the Lions with 11 receptions for 92 yards and a score, while Carter picked up 80 yards and a touchdown on 7 receptions.
Gianna Brown had three grabs for 42 yards and a score, while
Cailyn Robinson had 3 receptions for 9 yards and a score.
Defensively,
Jamiese Spivey picked up 10 total flag pulls (8 solo), with one pass broken up. Kylie Warren-Young had six flag pulls on the night.
Gwen Carter and
Shayne Cooper-Riley picked up interceptions on the night.
Next up, the Lions will host Lindsey Wilson College and Milligan on Wednesday for Senior Day. The games will be played at 4PM and 7PM respectively.
