Franklin Springs, GA – The Emmanuel Women's Flag Football team hosted Milligan University in non-conference play. The Buffaloes took the early 13-0 lead in the 1
st quarter. The Lions responded well, outscoring the Buffaloes 14-7 in the 2
nd quarter to trail 21-14 at the half. Milligan answered with a 19-0 scoring run to close the game and earn the 39-14 win.
Lillian Stephenson completed 12-15 passes for 122 yards and 2 touchdowns, while
Gwen Carter completed 11 passes for 90 yards, throwing 3 interceptions.
Carter was the Lions leading rusher with 12 carries for 15 yards. She also led the team in receiving with 3 catches for 53 yards and 2 scores.
Defensively, Kylie Warren-Young and
Jamiese Spivey led the team with 5 flag pulls apiece.
Next up, the Lions will travel to Durham, NC to face Barton College in the first round of the inaugural Conference Carolinas Championship on Friday at 2:15PM. The game will be streamed on the Conference Carolinas Digital Network powered by Hudl for $10.
