Franklin Springs, GA – The Emmanuel Men's Lacrosse team hosted Shorter University in their final game of the regular season. The Lions jumped out ahead, taking a 21-1 lead into the half. The Lions continued to control the pace of the game, outscoring the Hawks 10-2 to close out the game winning, 31-3.
The Lions opened the scoring with a 9-0 scoring run in the 1
st period.
Ryland Laturell started the scoring, and
Grant Anderson followed that up with a goal, assisted by
Braden Weeks to make it 2-0, Lions with 8:35 to play in the 1
st.
Ryley Dowswell scored the next two, with assists by
Josh Williams and
Tristen Cuda to put the Lions up 4-0. Gardner grabbed his second goal of the night with 6:31 to play in the period, assisted by Williams to make it 5-0, Lions. The Lions closed the period out with goals by Dowswell, Laturell,
Everett Muratori, and Anderson to give the Lions a 9-0 lead heading into the 2
nd.
The Lions continued to pour on the points in the 2
nd period, with Gardner finding the net for his 3
rd goal early in the period (assisted by Cuda) to give the Lions a 10-0 lead. A minute later, Laturell scored his third, (assisted by Stachniak) and
Connor Mann grabbed his first (assisted by Dowswell) to put the Lions up 12-0. With 12:00 to play in the 2
nd, Muratori scored to push the Lions lead to 13-0. The Hawks got on the board to make it 13-1, but the Lions answered with goals by Weeks (assisted by Stachniak), Gardner twice (assisted by Laturell) Dowswell (assisted by Laturell), Anderson (assisted by Stachniak)
Brayden Polly (assisted by Ethan Hilderbrandt) and Stachniak twice (assisted by Laturell and Weeks) to give the Lions the 21-1 lead heading into halftime.
Stachniak opened the 3
rd period with his third goal, (assisted by Williams) to make it 22-1, Lions. The Hawks responded to make it 22-2, but the Lions answered with goals by Dowswell and Laturell (assisted by Gardner) to make it 24-2. The Hawks scored to make it 24-3, but the Lions closed the period on a 4-0 run with goals by Stachniak (assisted by Dowswell), Dowswell (assisted by Stachniak), Weeks (assisted by Lichtner), and Hilderbrandt (assisted by
Lane Doherty) to make the score, 28-3, Lions.
The Lions closed the game strong with a 3-0 run in the 4
th period, with goals by Gardner, Weeks (assisted by
Gabe Melendez) and Doherty (assisted by Anderson) to make the fial score 31-3, Lions.
Ryley Dowswell ended the night with 6 goals, while
Devin Gardner added 5.
Cole Stachniak and
Ryland Laturell added 4 goals apiece.
Cole Stachniak led the team with 4 assists, with
Josh Williams and Laturell adding 3 each.
Rashad Jefferson led the Lions in goal with 4 saves, with
Nick Pilon adding 3.
