Franklin Springs, GA – The Emmanuel Softball team hosted the Young Harris College Mountain Lions today for Senior Day.
Grace Ausborn and
Eliana Cooper were recognized pregame and honored for how they've led the Lions this year. The Mountain Lions jumped out to an early lead in game one, but the Lions responded well to cut the YHC lead to 2-1. Young Harris would rally to take game one, 10-2. Game two was all Young Harris, with the Mountain Lions earning the 10-0 win.
GAME ONE
The Mountain Lions bats got hot early in game one, taking a 2-0 lead in the first inning. The Lions responded quickly, scoring a run in the bottom half of the inning.
Dezarea Hillery walked to start the at-bat and quickly stole 2
nd.
Ciara Passmore reached 1
st on an error to advance Hillery to 3
rd. Both baserunners stole a base, with Hillery scoring to cut the Young Harris lead to 2-1.
Lions Pitcher,
Autumn Matherly got out of a jam in the 2
nd inning, giving up a single and a walk, but a groundout ended the at-bat with no runs scored. The Lions threatened in the bottom of the 2
nd.
Shelby Rinefierd hit a 2-out single to keep things going, and a walk to
Arlie Gooden put runners on 1
st and 2
nd.
Kelsey Lester singled to load the bases, but a pop-up ended the inning with the Mountain Lions leading 2-1.
Young Harris added to their lead in the top of the 3
rd, scoring 3 runs on 2 hits and an error to go up 5-1. The Lions got two baserunners on board in the bottom half of the inning, but a strikeout ended the inning.
Young Harris tacked on 3 runs on 3 runs on 3 hits in the top of the 4
th, taking an 8-1 lead.
After a scoreless 5
th for the Mountain Lions, the Lions responded in the bottom half of the inning. After a singles from Hillery and
Quinn Overby, Passmore reached on a fielder's choice to load the bases. Hillery scored on a sacrifice fly, but Passmore was thrown out at 2
nd and a pop up ended the inning with the Lions trailing 8-2.
After a scoreless 6
th, the Mountain Lions added two runs to their lead in the top of the 7
th to take a 10-2 lead. Passmore reached on an error in the bottom half of the inning, but a ground out ended the inning and the game, with the Mountain Lions taking the 10-2 win.
At the plate, four Lions collected a hit, with
Carson Stowe picking up an RBI.
Autumn Matherly started in the circle, pitching 3.0 innings. She gave up 7 runs (6 earned) on 7 hits. She walked 2 batters.
Addison Hendrix relieved her to face 6 batters. She gave up a run on a hit and walked 3 batters.
Quinn Overby closed out the game, pitching 3.1 innings. She gave up 2 runs on 4 hits and walked 3 batters, striking out one.
GAME TWO
The Lions threatened early in the top of the bottom of the 2
nd.
Carson Stowe led off the inning with a single and
Jacie McCall reached on an error, with Stowe advancing to 2
nd. Three pop-ups ended the threat with no runs scoring.
After a scoreless first two innings, Young Harris took the lead in the top of the 3
rd scoring 3 runs on 5 hits and 3 errors to take a 6-0 lead.
The Mountain Lions added 4 runs on 2 hits and an error in the top of the 4
th to make it 10-0 which would be the final score.
At the plate,
Carson Stowe picked up a hit.
In the circle,
Reagan Beagle got the start. She went 3.2 innings and gave up 10 runs on 7 hits. She walked 2 batters and struck out one.
Addison Hendrix relieved her to throw 1.1 scoreless innings, walking one batter.
Next up, the Lions will travel to Rome, GA to face Shorter on April 7
th at 2 & 4PM.
