FRANKLIN SPRINGS, GA- The Emmanuel Women's Volleyball team opened their home conference slate with a Conference Championship rematch against North Greenville University. The Lions jumped ahead early with a 25-11 win in set one. The home team carried the momentum the rest of the match to take the final two sets, 25-18, 25-20 to earn the sweep.
The Lions jumped out to a 6-2 lead in the first set behind kills by
Natalie Wilson,
Ellie Jackson and
Jada Porter. Kills from Porter and
Brooke Lee pushed the Lions lead to 14-5 midway through the set, and aces from Lee and
Madelyn Banton made the score 21-8, Lions late. Kills from
Brianna Bigelow and an ace by
Paige Hill helped close the set strong for Emmanuel to earn the win, 25-11.
The second set saw the two teams trade points early, with
Cailin Pritchard, Wilson, and Bigelow picking up points to give the Lions a 9-7 lead. With the teams knotted at 16 midway through the set, the Lions pulled ahead on errors by the Trailblazers and kills from Wilson to make the score, 23-18. Kills from Pritchard and Porter closed set two with the Lions on top, 25-18.
The Lions opened up the 3
rd set with a 6-4 lead, with Jackson Pritchard and Lee picking up points. The Trailblazers responded well, tying the set at 10-10, and taking the lead on a 4-0 run, 15-12. The Lions answered with a 4-0 run of their own, made up of kills by Lee and Pritchard and aces from Hill to make it 18-16 Lions. With the Lions up one point late, 19-18, kills by Jackson and Wilson, along with an ace from Pesut gave the Lions the set, 25-20 and the game,3-0.
Overall, the Lions had 45 kills. 7 aces, 5 blocks, 43 assists, and 36 digs.
Natalie Wilson and
Cailin Pritchard led the team with 9 kills each, with
Marusa Pesut picking up 41 assists.
Paige Hill led the Lions with 3 aces, with Wilson and
Cailin Pritchard adding 2 blocks each.
Isabel Miller added 11 digs to lead the Lions.
