Michael Skelly

Michael Skelly is entering his 1st season with Emmanuel College in 2021-22, and his 6th overall season in college baseball. 
 
Skelly comes to Emmanuel after spending the previous four seasons at Thomas University, a NAIA member of the Sun Conference. Skelly served in multiple roles for the Night Hawks, most recently as the pitching coach for the program. Skelly helped the Night Hawks captured their first ever conference title in 2019. Skelly’s coaching career began at Andrew College in the year 2016-17. That season Skelly served as the catching and outfield coach. Skelly coached NJCAA Rawlings National Gold Glove winner and NJCAA National Defensive Player of the Year, catcher Chris Schwarzer that season. 
 
He has coached numerous seasons in the summer circuit. Most recently as the head coach of the Richmond Jazz of the Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League. In his first season, the Jazz amassed a record of 26-16, one game short of the division title. This was the Jazz’s first playoff appearance since 2017. Skelly has spent two summers as an assistant coach in the Valley League in Virginia. His first season with the New Market Rebels in 2017 and second season with the Strasburg Express in 2019. The Express claimed the North Division Title and played for the league championship. Skelly also coached in the Ohio Valley League in 2018 with the Hoptown Hoppers. The Hoppers also collected a division title and lost in the championship series. 
 
Skelly played collegiately at Anderson University (SC) where he received his bachelor’s degree in 2016. In his last two seasons as a Trojan, he made 39 appearances on the mound. 
 
A native of Pendleton, SC, Skelly and his fiancé Katherine Streater, are to be wed in December 2021.
