Tim Starr

Tim Starr enters his sixth season at the helm of the Emmanuel University men's soccer program and has guided the Lions to one of the most successful stretches in the program's NCAA Division II history. Under his leadership, Emmanuel has established itself as a consistent contender in Conference Carolinas, earning four consecutive Conference Carolinas Tournament appearances from 2022-25 while setting multiple program records.

In 2025, Starr led the Lions to a 7-8-3 overall record and a 6-4-3 mark in Conference Carolinas despite one of the most challenging schedules in program history, which included non-conference matches against regional powers Lee, Anderson, and St Leo. Emmanuel earned its fourth consecutive Conference Carolinas Tournament berth and advanced to the conference quarterfinals after a 3-2 road victory over sixth-seeded Converse before falling 2-1 at third-seeded Chowan.

In 2024, Emmanuel produced the best overall and conference record in the program's NCAA Division II era, finishing 8-4-2 overall and 7-4-1 in Conference Carolinas play. The Lions also hosted a Conference Carolinas Tournament match for the first time in school history, another milestone in the program's continued rise.

The 2023 season marked another step forward as Emmanuel finished 8-6-3 overall and 6-3-3 in conference play while advancing to the Conference Carolinas Tournament for a second consecutive season. The campaign included notable victories over King and Belmont Abbey and further established the Lions as one of the conference's emerging programs.

In 2022, Starr guided Emmanuel to its first Conference Carolinas Tournament semifinal appearance since 2018. The Lions finished 6-8-3 overall and 5-6-3 in conference play, defeating higher-seeded opponents in the tournament to reach the league's final four and begin the program's current run of postseason success.

After taking over the program during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, Starr rebuilt the Lions into a consistent postseason contender. Since 2022, Emmanuel has reached the Conference Carolinas Tournament in four consecutive seasons, advanced to a conference semifinal, hosted its first Division II-era conference tournament match, recorded the best overall and conference records in the program's Division II history, and posted three winning conference seasons.

Prior to Emmanuel, Starr served as head coach at Malone University, where he led the Pioneers to their first Great Midwest Athletic Conference (GMAC) Tournament appearance and the program's best record since 2011. He previously held head coaching positions at Sheridan College and Northeastern Junior College, guiding both programs to their first conference tournament or championship appearances.

Starr earned his bachelor's degree from Colorado Christian University and his master's degree in Sport and Exercise Science with a concentration in Soccer Coaching from Ohio University.
