John Friddle

John Friddle joins the Emmanuel Volleyball program as the Assistant Coach under his son James Friddle. John brings with him over 25 years of volleyball coaching experience along with a long history of playing experience.
John began his coaching career in 1986, amassing experience coaching college club, beach training clinics, and juniors for 10 years. In 1998, he served as the Head Volleyball Coach at Excel Christian High School, followed by a stint as Assistant Volleyball Coach at Cartersville High School in 2000 and 2001 where he attended the Georgia State Sweet 16 both years. From 2000 to 2008, John was a girls Junior Olympic Coach for Christian Sports of Atlanta while simultaneously serving as a Junior Olympic Coach for Southern Storm (boys) from 2000-2015. During his time coaching Southern Storm, his team earned three open bids as well as ranked nationally from 2009-2011. He is no stranger to Conference Carolinas as he was the Assistant coach at King University from 2012-2014. Most recently, he served as a coaching consultant for Cole Tallman at Erskine College from 2015-2016.
 
John’s playing experience dates back to 1984 where he played USVB Indoors AA and Open Level for 10 years. From 1988-1995, he played outdoor circuit, including time on the EVA beach tour. He is a winner of three Gold Medals in the Palmetto State Olympics as well as a winner of numerous Outdoor Tournaments, including men’s doubles and coed.
 
John currently resides in Fair Play, South Carolina with his wife Pam. He is the father of Jennifer and James.
