Mike Bona

Coach Bona has had an outstanding career as both a coach and an administrator. Based on his 70% winning record (808 wins & 386 losses), he was inducted into the Atlanta Tip-Off Club of Georgia's Winningest Basketball Coaches in 1998. He has been named either Regional or State Women's Basketball Coach of the Year 31 times during his coaching career at Emmanuel. In 2019 Coach Bona was selected Conference Carolinas' Coach of the Year as the Lady Lions won both the Regular Season Conference Championship and the Conference Tournament Championship. He has served as an Assistant Professor, Athletic Director, or Basketball Coach at Emmanuel for 50 years, and has been coaching the women's team for 40 yrs.While at Emmanuel, he's also served as an Assistant Professor, Athletic Director 

In 1991 he was voted by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association as the Converse Junior College Women's National Coach of the Year. As an Athletics Director he has been instrumental in the progression of the athletic program from a two year college with just a few sports teams to a full blown four year athletic program with several teams and joining the Southern States Athletic Conference of the NAIA. Coach Bona was selected by the Conference as Athletic Director of the Year in 2002. 

Coach Bona is a graduate of Emmanuel College (AA degree), Belmont Abbey College (BS degree) and Georgia State University (MA in Physical Education).

He is married to his wife Gloria who is a retired public school administrator/teacher. They have two sons, Eric and Kyle.
