FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga.---The Emmanuel College Lions defeated the Columbia International Rams 3-1 to advance to the NCCAA South Region men's soccer tournament semi-finals.
Jonathan Faile scored a pair of goals to pace the Lions to victory.
Faile scored in the 31st minute after collecting a long service and smashing the ball under the CIU goalkeeper to send the Lions into the halftime break with a 1-0 lead. Andres Mora then added a goal in the 52ndminute after some clever dribbling inside the CIU penalty box before Faile added his second goal of the night in the 62nd minute heading in a Scott Perdue service for the 3-0 lead. CIU pulled back a late goal in the 68th minute but the Lions finished the game strong and moved into the semi-finals.
EC will now face Southern Wesleyan at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, November 21 in the NCCAA South Region semi-finals. SWU defeated Point 4-2 earlier in the day to set up this all-SSAC semifinal here in the NCCAA tournament. #1 seed Shorter after a quarterfinal bye will play Southeastern at 5 p.m. as the Fire defeated Bob Jones 2-1 in overtime to advance into their semi-final match.
