Box Score Emmanuel College Sports Information - Ellie Chapman
FRANKLIN SPRINGS, GA---The Emmanuel College Women's Soccer team fell to the visiting Converse College Valkyries in a tough battle on Saturday night. The Valkyries were coming off an 8 game winning streak, and after the win against Emmanuel move to 5-0 in Conference Carolina play.
The Valkyries came out strong early, converting on a through ball in the 11th minute, after a through ball was finished by Georgia Jones. Breanna played the first half in goal for the lions collecting 3 saves. After the half, the Lions came out focused and ready to battle, scoring just 55 seconds into the second half. The goal came after a strong cross by Liene Vaciete was unable to be cleared by the Valkyrie defense, the ball rebounding into the goal. Vaciete was credited with the goal.
Unfortunately this was not enough to stem the flow of the Valkyrie attack, as the visiting team outshot Emmanuel 13 to 4 in the second half. The second goal for the Valkyries came after EC failed to block a well weighted Natalie Johnson kick from outside the box. The Lions record now reads 2-6, and they will be looking to improve this when they take on Shorter College on the road on Tuesday October 7, kick off set for 6pm
