Box Score Franklin Springs, GA - The Emmanuel College Soccer Lions faced off against NCCAA region opponents Columbia International University on Thursday evening.
The Lions started the game slowly and they were punished in the 14
th minute when Paul Grandacarpio found the net from the edge of the box. The Lions could have fell further behind 2 minutes later as the visiting Rams were awarded a penalty. However, Daniel Miele's effort was excellently saved by
Sebastian Jones.
The Lions came out for the second half eager to get back into the game but it was CIU who grabbed their second of the game in the 56
th minute through an own goal. The Lions did not give up and they managed to pull a goal back in the 64
th minute through Blair Springhill. And tied the game up 4 minutes later through
Garrett Moore. The Lions were dealt another blow in the 73
rd minute as Paul Grandacarpio scored his second of the game to put the Rams back in the lead. The Lions fought back again and tied the game at 3-3 in the 82nd minute via a
Morgan Anders free kick.
The teams entered over time, but neither team could find the decisive goal so the game was ended as a tie.
The tie moves the Lions to 4-4-3 overall and they remain 3-3-2 in conference play.
The soccer Lions are in action again on Saturday as they travel to take on NCCAA region opponent Bob Jones University with kick-off scheduled for 7pm.
