FRANKLIN SPRINGS, GA - Women's soccer faced the Erskine College Flying Fleet at home on Tuesday night. The Lions defeated the Flying Fleet, 2-1, moving their record to 3-8 overall and 2-5 in league play.
Emmanuel scored the first goal of the night in the 30th minute. It came when sophomore Zoe Logue connected with junior Viki Lederer on a cross ball that she fired into the corner of the net. This marked the third goal of the season for Lederer.
In the second half the Lions managed to increase their lead to two by the 71st minute as freshman Tenley Hanhardt found the net for her first goal in an Emmanuel jersey. Two minutes later the Fleet followed it up with a goal of their own, making the score 2-1. The remainder of the time was scoreless as Emmanuel won the match, 2-1.
Emmanuel ended up taking 12 shots, 9 of them on goal. Erskine finished with 8, half of them on target.
Next up, women's soccer will face UNC Pembroke on Saturday, October 16 at 2:00pm.
