MURFREESBORO, NC - Women's volleyball continued their away play with a trip to North Carolina. The Lions defeated the Chowan Hawks in four sets, 3-1. The win moves Emmanuel's record to 10-10 overall and 7-2 in league play. 

The first set was close early on, but the Hawks began to take control in the middle of the set. Trailing 17-11, the Lions were slowly able to pull back within three points, but ultimately Chowan took the set by six, 25-19. 

The Hawks carried their momentum into the second set, leading 9-6 early on. However, the Lions managed to quickly tie the score at 10. With the score tied at 14, Emmanuel started to take over. The Hawks struggled to respond as the Lions went on to win the set, 25-20. 

With the third set tied at 7, the Lions scored five straight to gain the lead. The Hawks battled their way back until they got within a point, 21-20. However, kills from sophomore Alaina Emminger and senior Aleksandra Hamuda were followed with an ace by senior Kaitlyn Henderson en route to the Lions taking the set, 25-21. 

The fourth set was close early on, but it didn't take long for the Lions to build a commanding lead. They eventually won the set comfortably, 25-14. 

After recording seven kills in the fourth set alone, Alaina Emminger finished with 17 kills, hitting .307 and adding a block. Aleksandra Hamuda recorded 16 kills, 12 digs, 3 blocks, and 2 service aces. 

Next up, women's volleyball will face Barton College with first serve slated for 2:00pm.
