FRANKLIN SPRINGS, GA - Men's soccer faced Southern Wesleyan on Tuesday night. The Lions defeated the Warriors, 2-0, moving their record to 2-8 overall and 2-6 in league play.
The Lions got off to an incredibly fast start, scoring just 31 seconds into the match. The goal came when Will Fraser-Gray passed to Alexander Panner in the Warrior's box. Panner then got it to Cian Walder, who quickly pounded it into the net for Emmanuel. The remainder of the first half saw no more goals, but four yellow cards were dished out as the match starting getting physical.
The aggressiveness continued into the second half as the tension was palpable. Three more yellow cards were given and two Warriors were ejected with red cards late in the match. The Lions tacked on a second goal in the 66th minute, when a beautiful cross ball from Marco Lang was finished off by Kahliel Frierson. The header was the freshman's first career goal in a Lions jersey. SWU was unable to respond as Emmanuel won the match, 2-0.
The Lions finished with 23 shots, 10 of them on target. The Warriors took 12, 3 of them on goal.
Next up, men's soccer will face King University on the road this Saturday (10/23) at 4:00pm.
