BRISTOL, TN - The women's soccer team recorded a 2-2 draw with the King University Tornado on Saturday. After neither team could score in double overtime, the match ended in a tie to move both teams' record to 3-6-1 in conference play. The Lions are now 4-9-1 overall.
The first goal of the match came in the 19th minute, when senior Brianna Bishop connected off a pass from sophomore Zoe Logue. 15 minutes later, Bishop found the net once again for her fourth goal of the season. This one came off an assist from sophomore Madison Rundbaken. However, the Tornado got one back before the half, scoring in the 36th minute to make the score 2-1 after 45 minutes of play.
The Lions committed a foul in their own box early in the second half, giving the Tornado a penalty kick. However, freshman Olivia Weider made a big save, retaining a one score advantage for the Lions. In the 61st minute, King was able to score their second goal, tying the match. The Lions got four more shots off before the end of regulation, but none of them found the net, sending the game into overtime.
The Lions took five shots between the two overtime periods, compared to the Tornado not being able to take any. However, none of Emmanuel's shots resulted in a goal, so the match ended in a 2-2 tie after 110 minutes of action.
Emmanuel finished with 17 shots taken, 8 on goal. King took 4, 3 of them on goal.
