CHARLOTTE, NC - The men's basketball team finished the Southeast Regional Challenge with a game against No. 14 Queens University on Saturday night. The Royals defeated the Lions, 83-62, moving Emmanuel's record to 1-1.
The first ten minutes of the game were back and forth as neither team could gain an advantage. However, with the score tied at 16 the Royals scored eight straight, giving themselves the largest advantage of the night. The Royals continued to control the pace for the remainder of the second half, eventually leading 37-28 after 20 minutes of play.
The second half saw the offensive struggles continue for the Lions. They fought hard to fend off the Royals on defense, but couldn't knock down a shot on the other end of the court. They went 1-9 from the perimeter in the second half en route to falling by 21 points, 83-62.
Sophomore KJ Jones II was a bright spot for the Lions, putting up 23 points and 5 boards. Senior Kyler Ingram followed with 10 points.
Next up, men's basketball will begin conference play against Francis Marion with their first home game of the season, next Saturday, November 20 at 4:00pm.
