DUE WEST, SC - The men's basketball team faced the Erskine College Flying Fleet on the road on Tuesday night. The Lions came away with a 12 point victory, 78-66, moving Emmanuel's record to 4-1 overall and 3-0 in league play.
The first ten minutes were evenly matched as the teams tied at 20 points. But a 12-6 run for the Lions gave them their largest lead of the night, 32-26. They continued to build on the lead heading into the half, pushing their advantage into double-digits, 42-30.
Seven minutes into the second half, the Lions maintained a controlling lead, 57-41. The Fleet fought to stay in the game but were unable to make a comeback. Strong defense and ball management late were more than enough for the Lions to put away the game, 78-66.
Senior Tyonn Stuckey led the way for the Lions, putting up 16 points while going 6-8 from the field. Stuckey knocked down an impressive 3 out of 4 from beyond the arc, while adding 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Senior Brandon Simpson and sophomore KJ Jones followed with 13 points a piece.
Next up, men's basketball will face Barton College on Friday, November 5 at 7:00pm.
