Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Lions Beat Fleet, 56-39

DUE WEST, SC - The women's basketball team began a stretch of road play with a game at Erskine on Tuesday night. The Lions beat the Flying Fleet, 56-39, moving Emmanuel's record to 2-4 (2-1 CC).

The Lions jumped out to an early lead in the game, 12-2. The dominate first quarter finished with Emmanuel leading by eight points, 13-5. The Fleet fought their way back in the game in the second quarter, slowly getting back with a possession, 15-13. However, another hot streak for the Lions extended their advantage to seven points after 20 minutes of play, 22-15.

Erskine found themselves back within three points halfway through quarter three as they trailed 25-22. But senior Allison Smith and sophomore Sydney Wyatt went back and forth scoring for Emmanuel, propelling them into a double-digit lead once more, 34-24. The Lions not only continued to hold the Fleet on defense, but also had their most productive quarter of the night on offense in the final 10 minutes. 22 points in the fourth alone gave Emmanuel a 17 point victory, 56-39.

The Lions were led by junior Jeanetta Elder, who finished with 15 points and 9 rebounds. Senior Allison Smith followed with a near double-double of her own, recording 10 points and 9 boards.

Next up, women's basketball will face Barton College on Friday, December 3 at 5:00pm.
