FRANKLIN SPRINGS, GA - The men's basketball team faced No. 12 Augusta University on Friday afternoon. The Jaguars defeated the Lions, 92-74, moving Emmanuel's record to 8-4.
The game got off to an explosive start as Augusta scored 20 points in just over five minutes. Emmanuel scored 15 of their own, but still trailed by five. The hot shooting continued for the Jaguars in the first half as they went 54% from the field and 66% from beyond the arc. After 20 minutes the Jaguars had scored 50 points and led by a dozen, 50-38.
The Lions were unable to Mount a comeback in the second half as the Jaguars continued to be productive on offense. 55% from the field and 63% from three point range were enough for Augusta to keep the Lions at bay. The Jaguars also dominated the boards, grabbing 42 rebounds while the Lions only came up with 22. Emmanuel went 48% from beyond the arc, but only 44% from the field as Augusta went on to win by 18 points, 92-74.
Senior Brandon Simpson put up 17 points and grabbed 3 boards, while freshman Chris Dees scored 13 and added 4 rebounds.
