MURFREESBORO, NC - The women's basketball team played the Chowan University Hawks on Saturday afternoon. The Hawks defeated the Lions, 62-46, moving Emmanuel's record to 2-6 overall and 2-3 in conference play.
The first quarter was close throughout, but a run of late points gave Chowan a one possession lead after 10 minutes, 17-14. The second quarter was the most dominant of the night for the Hawks as they outscored the Lions by 10 points, 19-9. Emmanuel trailed by 13 at the half, 36-23.
Another hot streak in the third quarter increased Chowan's advantage to the largest of the night, 52-33. The Lions outscored the Hawks in the final 10 minutes, but they weren't able to overcome the deficit as Chowan went on to win the game, 62-46.
Sophomore Sydney Wyatt finished with 16 points and 3 rebounds, while junior Jazmin Allen recorded another double-double (11 points, 11 rebounds).
Next up, women's basketball will face Belmont Abbey College on Saturday, December 11 at 2:00pm.
