WILSON, NC - The women's soccer team traveled to North Carolina to begin conference play against Barton College. The Bulldogs narrowly defeated the Lions, 2-1, moving Emmanuel's record to 1-1. 

The first goal of the game came in the 32nd minute, when Barton's Emely Pichardo bounced a shot off a Lion and it ended up in the bottom right corner of the goal. Emmanuel got several shots off before the end of the first period but none found the net, resulting in the Bulldogs taking a 1-0 advantage into halftime. 

In the 61st minute, senior Moriah Logue assisted freshman Olivia Weider off a free kick in scoring her first goal as a Lion to tie the game, 1-1. However, just five minutes later Barton answered with their second goal to give the Bulldogs the lead once again, 2-1. The Lions could only get one more shot off in the last 24 minutes, resulting in Barton taking the victory, 2-1. 

Despite getting 11 shots off, the Lions only had three on goal. The Bulldogs shot 16 times with 8 of them on goal as freshman goalkeeper Julia Styrmisdottir finished with 6 saves.
